Red Kangaroo Books is an independent bookstore in Alice Springs and has been trading for over decade. Our bookstore specialises in Australian and Indigenous books and serves a varied community of readers. We stock a large range of books that cover Indigenous history and art; Indigenous language books; local and regional history; biographies of local and larger-than-life heroes; fiction; children's books; and flora, fauna and natural history books. We believe we are the only bricks-and-mortar bookshop still standing between Port Augusta, Darwin, Broome and Broken Hill.
This is the first practical manual about camel diseases for veterinarians and livestock practitioners. This manual was compiled
through a workshop involving 20 of the worlds leading camel specialists, and details some 90 major camel ailments, ranging from abortions to wry-neck syndrome. For each problem, it gives the symptoms of the disease, the causes, and simple prevention and treatment methods. It includes both treatments based on Western veterinary science, as well as those tried and tested by local healers and herders. The diseases are organized according to the part of the body affected and the symptoms. A section on procedures explains how to examine a camel, take samples for laboratory analysis, and apply various types of medicines. Written in clear, simple language and richly illustrated with line drawings by African and Indian artists, this sourcebook is an invaluable aid to camel care. Contents Introduction / Managing and treating camels / Skin problems / Problems of the head and neck / Problems of
the legs, feet and tail / Problems of the nose and lungs / Problems of the stomach and intestines / Infectious diseases / Non-infectious diseases / Reproduction / Calves / Appendices
